First Horse Show of 2008

On Saturday I took Kylee to her first horse show of the year.
Our good friend June joined us too.
Here Kylee and June are talking over the showmanship pattern.
This is Kylee in her first class.
She is set up at the cone and ready
for the judge to tell her to start.
Kylee and Hannah are really good at showmanship and the judge thought so too.
Here they are with their first place ribbon.
Brian got to see a little of the show before he headed to Portland to visit his family.
Even though the day was really cold we had a good time together.
June was very helpful and knew when to help Kylee re-lax.
They did very well and we can't wait for the next show.

New Favorite Stop

On our trip to Seattle Tayler and I stopped in Yakima (Union Gap) at their McDonald's. We had fun with all their decorations from the 50's. She wants to come back here and play a song on the jukebox next time we come through.
Right across the street we found a "Cold Stone Creamery" shop. We decided to try it on the way back home. I had peanut butter ice-cream with a snickers in it, and Tayler had peanut butter with Oreo in it. Each time we travel we add to our traveling traditions. I think we have a new one. Yummy!
We also stopped off in North Bend to shop for a few minutes and both thought the scenery was beautiful. Funny how Spring and Winter overlap. The flowers and trees are all blooming and on the way home it was snowing????
While dad was receiving his treatment on Thursday, mom, Tayler and I went to Whole Foods for the first time. We all loved it (another tradition). Tayler saw this cute hat and decided it was meant for her.
Mom and Dad love fresh cut flowers, but aren't aloud to have them in the apartment, so we always stop and meander through the flowers at each grocery store. Thank you Seattle for having so many beautiful flowers in each grocery store!
Through out the day we went to visit Dad at the Cancer Center as he was spending the whole day there getting his first round of Chemo. It turned out to be a 14 hour day for them and this is on hour 13. Looking good don't you think?
We came home on Friday so I could take Kylee to her horse show on Saturday. While grocery shopping, mom showed me this new way of making pancakes. Any of you that know Kylee, knows that pancakes are her staple food. I bought her this can of mix and it didn't take her long, before she was trying it out. She is going to have FUN with it.
Maybe she will make me breakfast???

FFA State Convention

Monday night were the closing ceremonies for the 80th FFA State Convention here in Pendleton.
Tayler invited me to go with her so we could see her good friend Jessie get her State Degree.
This is Sarah, Tayler's long time friend from preschool.
The evening was very fun. The energy and good clean fun this group has is
fun to be a part of. This afternoon we headed out to the River House were Grammie
seems to have an endless supply of drumstick icecream cones.
The girls quickly raided the freezer and reduced the
number of drumsticks located there by two. Brian did the very same thing
last time we visited. ??? Where are our manners???

Happy Easter

Here the girls are during their egg hunt.
This picture tells more than you think. Look carefully at Kylee's hand.
I didn't know this until after I took the picture but she was picking Tayler's pocket and stealing the Easter eggs out of her pocket.Kylee and Lucy.
Tayler found an egg on the truck.

Kylee happy to find an egg in the tree.
And in another tree.
Kylee has a horse show this coming weekend so we gave Hannah a bath.
Here are a couple fun videos of our Easter. Lucy found an egg that she really liked.
The other video is the girls playing with their egg laying hens.

Hair Cuts

Tonight Kylee helped me fill some plastic Easter Eggs. Then I told her to pick out a basket and she smiled, climbed up to the top of the kitchen cabinets and took down this BIG one.
Then she picked out the candy she DIDN'T like and ....
Dumped them on Brian who up to this point wasn't paying any attention to us.
We are babysitting Lucy this week and she is getting more comfortable at our house.
We are able to take her outside with out a leash now and she will listen to us.
This is Kylee's ankle 6 days after her fall.
It is still swollen and she says it is tender.
Both the girls got their hair cut today. When Kylee and I got home, she grabbed a pickle and started messing around. She is such a nut. I love her!
Here is Tayler checking out her new bangs in the Salon.

Here are the girls with their newest hair styles.
Tayler is on her way out to the FFA State Convention.

Twisted Ankle

On Monday Kylee twisted her ankle during P.E.
It was swollen and showing different colors by the time she got home from school.
By today she is starting to get around better. Hopefully she is on the mend.

Heading Back Home

Our time in Seattle ends with one last trip to the grocery store
and lunch out before we headed back home.
We had a great trip but it sure was hard to leave.
On the way home Tayler learn how to pump gas.
It isn't so bad when the weather is nice, but I would hate to do it in the winter.

Road Trip

The girls and I drove up to Seattle to help mom and dad move from their motel to their apartment. Along the way we HAD to stop for some junk food.
Once we got there, we loaded up everything and used this cart to bring things in.
On the roof there is a garden which has a beautiful view of the city.
This isn't the best picture but it shows what the view is like. Unfortunately the good one of mom and dad turned out blurry. I will try to get another picture on our next visit.
Brian joined us today. He had to wait a day so he could attend his first carnival at his Elementary school. His second grade teacher won the silent auction to through pie in his face. Sure wish I could have pictures of that for you. If anyone shares them, I will be sure to add them to the blog.
This is the view from mom and dad's apartment living room.
This is the view from the Cancer Care Alliance where dad will get most of his treatments.
I think you can see planes take of and land in the lake. We have seen a few in the sky.
We had a little accident this weekend! Look at dad's cheek. We were parked in the dark parking garage and dad was looking out the window to make sure we were far enough back and I THOUGHT I was closing MY window, but had HIS window instead...I trapped him. It was awful!!! It really hurt and left a terrible mark. This picture doesn't show it very well. The next morning it was a little better, but it left a line about 4-5 inches long. Needless to say, I will never roll up a window again without double checking and warning everyone.
Our first night we stayed in the motel with them. Tayler had fun with Poppa's hat.

Grammie and Kylee snuggled on the couch.
Tayler and Kylee were good entertainment.
They were releasing some of their energy that they stored up on the drive over.

Seattle or Bust

We wanted to send Grammie and Poppa off with their family around them, so we made some signs and put them along the road for them see on their way out of town. The girls and I had fun painting them and then Brian and I got up early and put them out.
